A lot of these items can be for entertainment purposes as the living room is often where families go to watch television, listen to the radio and socialise. Much like the kitchen it is one of the most commonly used rooms in our home. Some people may like to get some work done or read emails on the couch rather than being cooped up in a study or office, therefore laptop computers have become typical features in many front rooms. There are even small netbook computers now that are both incredibly portable and optimised for casual web browsing and emailing purposes so you won't have such a heavy weight on your lap.
Our homes are now more high tech than ever but you should be sure to store any valuable electrical goods like laptops away when you are not home to hide them from passing thieves.
